World of Words

Lisa Cox

Do you see words
As you walk?
Is the sun a sun
Or is it yellow
Golden glowing
Do words curl
Around tree trunks
Like bark and beetles
Ants and moss
Is the wind merely
A force or
Is it blowing
And moving, tossing
Leaves and playing
With your hair?
The world is alive
With words
like the weeds
That push through
The cracks in the sidewalk
Never stopping
They fill every gap in
My day, my vision.
Painters see color,
Musicians hear sound
And I read the words
Of the world.
