Cycles

Lisa Cox

Leaves float down
Raked into piles
Sluiced down grates
Reduced to slime
On the bottom of shoes
Their glory spent
The intricate web
That breathed
And drank sunlight
Turning dreamy summer
Days into green
Life growing
Expanding with fruit
And flower
Such delicacy discarded
Only to break forth
Into joyous
Green life each
Spring gobbling
Sunlight breathing
Sighing in the wind
life
