To an End

I wasn’t going to post this – it was just a meditation on what I was seeing in the Philippines, but I noticed that there aren’t any other posts concerning the typhoon.  It is just my attempt to grapple with the destruction that I see.  Photo is from Ted Aljibe / AFP – Getty Images>@

To an End

Lisa Cox

We surrender
To the wind
To the sea
We can take
No more
Bodies
Lay in churches
On streets
Where boats
Were tossed
Like soda cans
We sit in their
Shade and weep
We surrender
Our lives
Our loves
Our houses
Our children
Our parents
Will we be starved?
Surrounded by
Undrinkable water,
Will that be our end?
We once lived
And worked
And loved
Now we come
To an end.
