The Shift
The Shift

Now in the West the slender moon lies low,
And now Orion glimmers through the trees,
Clearing the earth with even pace and slow,
And now the stately-moving Pleiades,
In that soft infinite darkness overhead
Hang jewel-wise upon a silver thread.

And all the lonelier stars that have their place,
Calm lamps within the distant southern sky,
And planet-dust upon the edge of space,
Look down upon the fretful world, and I
Look up to outer vastness unafraid
And see the stars which sang when earth was made.

Turn the Lights On

Lisa Cox

Turn the lights on
For me
Let truth
Like a seed
Grows toward
The light
Turn the lights on
Warm my world
Like rocks heated
In the sun
And like a gecko
I’ll stretch and warm
Myself safe from harm
Turn the lights on
And expose every
Good thing
And shrivel every
Evil under it’s
Heat and radiance
Turn the lights on
Like Prometheus once
Brought light
When we were starved
For light in the darkness
Do not let me
Wither in darkness
Bring day, bring light, bring truth
Bring knowledge, bring hope

Out of Chaos, Order – Faces by Valentino Quijano

Shadow by Valentino Quijano
Shadow by Valentino Quijano

Valentino Quijano’s work is different from average artist who takes a face and splatters it, or fingerpaints it into an unrecognizable mess. He doesn’t draw bars through the faces of his work, or leave the eye sockets empty. Even though up close it is difficult to see the face his work coheres into a faces with emotions and life visible on them. His paints, works in multimedia, and also does digital painting as well. His website has been deactivated and I have been  unable to find any contact information for him online.  You can see more of his work HERE. (Updated 9/1/2015)
