There was a time when scientific illustration were done by hand and reproduced by etchings.  Jörg Schmeisser continued this tradition with incredibly detailed and beautiful etchings taken from nature.  He did etchings for other genres as well, but his nature work has captured by imagination.  He traveled extensively from Antarctica to deep jungles.  His work is breathtaking, and a reminder that our first connection with our home – earth – is in our observations. Here are a few locations to see more of Jörg Schmeisser’s lovely work – HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.
