Cuba for all the political connotations its very name conjures up seemed like a place out of time in pictures.  All the architecture and cars seemed to have come straight out of the 1950’s, even recent photos (of which there aren’t many because of the embargo).  This is because that until 2014 the law in Cuba stated that citizens could not own cars that were bought after the 1958 Cuban revolution.  See HERE and HERE for more info on the law change.  All those vintage cars, carefully maintained, were still driving the streets of Cuba preserving it, at least aesthetically,  to five decades ago.  The fantastic photographer Tony Hisgett has an amazing collection of photos available and one of his albums is full of pictures taken in Cuba during 2009.  Here are a few pictures of Cuban cars, before the law changed allowing new cars into Cuba.  To see more amazing pictures by Mr. Hisgett check out his Flickr site HERE.
