An Elegy for Diane

An Elegy For Diane

Lisa Cox

When you began
To fade
I lost sight
Of you
First
Your leg
Then
Your breast
Soon after
Your
Hair
Drifted
Softly –
Next
You were gone
Forever –
Now I
Find you
Where you always
Were
Smiling
As we played
Through the orchard
Riding horses
Through tall grasses
Whispering secrets
Late into the night
When you stayed over –
Stay I long to say
To you –
To late

Stay
